Control any Serum instance in Ableton Live from your MIDI Fighter Twister
The Serumify script enables you to use your Midi Fighter Twister to control the instance of Serum which is in the currently selected track.
Select a track in your Ableton Live session and your MIDI controller’s encoders will automatically map to the parameters of Serum on that track!
Then if you change the selected track, your MIDI controller will instantly update to control Serum on this new track.
There’s no need to map and re-map your MIDI controls each time you want to control a different instance of Serum in your project,
all you need to do is select the new track and you’ll have instant control of the instance of Serum on that track.
Plus! each time you start a new project, you don’t need to waste time setting up your mappings, Your Twister will be instantly ready!
How To Control Serum Parameters
After enabling Serumify in your Ableton Live settings,
- Add Serum into a track in your Ableton Live project.
- Use the configure tab to expose the Serum parameters which you want to control (up to 128 parameters).
- Sort them into the order which you want to control them on your MIDI Fighter Twister.
The inputs on your MIDI controller will automatically update to the same order which you have set in the configure section.
You can change the exposed parameters at any time and your Midi Fighter Twister will instantly update to match them.
Control 128 Serum parameters
Serumify gives you the ability to control up to 128 parameters per Serum instance with just 1 set of 16 encoders on your MIDI controller.
The parameters are split across 8 virtual pages on the Twister, which you can easily switch between with a quick button press.
If you have more than 16 exposed parameters, Serumify will automatically split them into multiple virtual pages. You can then switch between each page with a button press on the Twister.
With Serumify, you can control Serum when it is located in any of the following locations in a track’s device chain:
- Directly in the device chain
- Inside an instrument rack
- Inside an instrument rack’s selected device chain
LED Feedback
The LEDs on your MIDI Fighter Twister update to match the parameters on each instance Serum, this avoids any jumps in parameter values when you begin turning the encoders. This also gives you the essential visual feedback that you need when controlling multiple instances of Serum.
Selected Parameter Control
You can also select a parameter in the Serum GUI and control it from your Twister!
Simply select the device, open Serum, then click any parameter and you can control it using the first encoder on your Twister.
(Note: for this to work, remove any exposed parameters from the device first, or you will be controlling whatever is set in there!).
Only 1 MIDI Fighter Twister Page Needed
Serumify only uses one bank of MIDI messages on your MIDI Fighter Twister.
This means that all other firmware based banks on your Twister remain free to map using Ableton Live’s built-in MIDI mapping mode.
