This can be done with a reaction mapping.
See the attached screenshot and script which contain a working fold/unfold reaction mapping.
You just need to change the track number to the one you want to fold/unfold.
Note: this is for mapping the folding/unfolding of track groups.

Thanks
John

Ok...I will zone into the reactions...they seem to hold a lot of power!

This looks brilliant! Where does one find the syntax and list of all the text commands?

Currently its just a case of rifling through scripts and checking the live object model online. https://docs.cycling74.com/max5/refpages/m4l-ref/m4l_live_object_model.html.

The future goal of reactions is to have all of this stuff baked in so you can select these directly from the menu(s)

Ok thanks...it did quite a bit if m4l (actually after doing a lot of pure data) but the dependency around another subsystem vs remote surface was superfluous....hence me being here. I didnt realise python was connecting in the same way

Yeah it should be very similar to how max4live does it.
I find python scripts to be a more native solution though.

Absolutely. No comparison now and im getting into it but PD/Max is such a great dsp/behaviour tool. Control surfaces tools should never be written in m4l...just my 2c :-)
