Silent backups

Hi!
Sometimes, very few times, it has happened to me that the program (or the computer) has become inoperative and I lose data (scripts or templates). Perhaps an idea could be that the program saves backups from time to time?
I don't know if you know, for example, how AUTOCAD makes its backups (as a proposal).
